Economic Growth - Eliminate Government Waste
Hello, my name is Mark Mussina.
I’m a lifelong democrat who was born and raised in Lycoming County, and I’m excited to work with other elected officials and community leaders to move this area forward amidst the constantly changing social and economic climate facing our citizens today.
When we build solid foundations, our entire community benefits. We will grow and thrive when we strengthen both economic advancement and development, and social programs for mental health, early childhood education, veterans services, and affordable housing. Addressing these issues today puts us in a better position for a stronger future. Working together with my fellow commissioners, we will have the opportunity to advance things like infrastructure and transportation, as well as prominently displaying the cultural and environmental beauties our county already possesses.
Hoping for a better future isn’t enough. We must lay the groundwork today. When local people put aside their differences and work together, everyone wins.
That’s why I’m running for Lycoming County Commissioner.
Mark Mussina was born and raised in Lycoming County.
He’s also a lifelong Democrat, which has surprised many in the majority Republican area, even some of his closest friends. When Mark heard that there was going to be an opening for a County Commissioner, he was attracted to the possibilities of the position. County Commissioners are made up of Democrats and Republicans who work together to find and fund solutions to the issues their communities face.
“The county commissioners main focuses are budgets and finance,” said Mussina, who holds a mathematics degree from Susquehanna University. “That’s what makes this position appealing. It’s local people who care about the community, working together for the betterment of everyone. National politics have gotten really ugly. Local politics don’t have to be that way.”
Mussina, 51, has deep roots in the community. His mother and father are Williamsport High School grads. His grandparents lived in the city on Louisa Street and Memorial Avenue respectively. His brother, Mike, still lives in Lycoming County, as he did throughout his entire baseball career. A father of three Montoursville students of past and present, Mussina still resides in Montoursville.
Mark believes that our county will grow and thrive when we strengthen our commitment to mental health services, access to early childhood education, and veterans services. He knows that when we build foundations that support underserved communities, society as a whole benefits- today and in future generations.
Mark knows that in order to fund systems that promote the growth and development of our communities, we must eliminate wasteful government spending. Partisan bickering and unnecessary litigation do not move us closer to our goal of a stronger, more economically vibrant Lycoming County. Ultimately, the more vibrant and successful the county becomes, the more it can afford to support and uplift those in need.
What is Important?
- We CAN create new opportunities for the people of Lycoming County while also planning for the future.
- We CAN remove the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and make sure our communities are prepared to provide mental health resources to those who need them.
- We CAN provide tools for success from an early age starting with access to early childhood education programs.
- We CAN make more affordable housing for lower-income families to encourage stability and economic growth.
